  The procedure of the lesson:

I.                  Organization moment.

Greeting.        – Good afternoon!

                          Welcome to the lesson of the English language.

     II. Brainstorming:

       -Let’s talk about what things make a country. A map is a visual representation of an area . We have seen the map which shows the territory of the country, now let’s talk about other things:

             a)            In Kazakhstan it is ______ .

                            In the UK it is __________ .

                        and what are we talking about? You can see in the picture.

-         What are they?     Yes, capital cities.

b) In Kazakhstan we speak ______. (Kazakh)

    In GB we speak _______. (English)   so compare your answers.

What are they?  Yes, they are languages!

We should speak Kazakh in Kazakhstan.

We should speak English in Great Britain.

  c) So, previously we talked about capital cities, now languages, what is the next?

             In Kazakhstan it is over  17 mln.

             In GB it is over 63 mln.        p_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

  I given you number of words and first letter of the words.

               -Yes, it’s population.

   d)  What other things indicate the country?

                                                     Political systems.

  In red there are words which are scrambled and in blue the words are given. Your task is unscrambled words in red.

Of course we speak about language, territory, language, population, symbols, political system. These things indicate the country. Try this remember!

Today we learn important facts about the USA. There is nothing about this country in our textbooks so you’ll discover this country yourselves.

V. Pre-reading tasks: 

          1. What kind of state is the USA?  (The USA is a federal country of 50 states and the District  of Columbia).

           2. Who is the US president now?  (Barrack Obama).

           3. How many States are there in the country?  (50).

           4. What is the capital of the USA?  (Washington ). Etc.

VIІ. Practice. Post reading:  Now you have learnt some more facts about the USA.

Ask and answer the questions:

• What is the scenery of the country?
• What is the population of the country?
• What mighty rivers of the USA do you know?
• What big mountain chains can you name?
• How many stars are on the American flag?
• What is the US population?
• What is the total area of the country?

1.  Look at the map of the USA, find the places mentioned in the text and mark them on the map.

Your summary should contain 6-8 sentences.
