The theme: Listening Comprehension “The Great Greek philosophers”
Grade: 10 “A”
Objectives:
1. To enlarge pupils” knowledge on the theme, to realize connection between subjects (history)
2. To develop critical thinking , lingual-cultural competence through listening, usage of lexis and grammar structures on the theme
3. To educate a habit to listen and to hear each other, to respect others opinion and be helpful
Visual Aids: cards, a tape-recorder, slides, an interactive board
Procedure
I. Organization stage
- Greeting
Teacher: Dear boys and girls I'm very glad to see you. I hope you are fine. So let's begin our lesson. The subject of today's discussion is very important. Today we are going to listen to the text and talk about Society and People. Things that people make with their hands pave the way to the future. Their ideas, hopes, ambitions are very often materialize. People’s spiritual life is as important as their physical comfort such as food or warm clothes in bad weather. Man has dreamt of a better life and a better society.
How do we call people who think of such societies? Can you remember any names of philosophers who tried to teach people to live happier lives? Where did they live? What did they teach? What qualities should a man have to become a philosopher? What sacrifices will a person have to make trying to change our society? We’ll try to answer all these questions at our lesson today.
II. Realization of meaning

Open your books on p. 64 Ex. 5 , read the task of it:
1. Listen to the text “The great Greek Philosophers” and do the task
2. Open your copybooks, write down the date. Listen to the text once more and write out the unknown words. Read the words.

III. Reflexion
It is time to come to the conclusion. Make up cinquains about The great Greek Philosophers. It is a kind of poem consisting of 5 lines. The first line is a general word, the second line consists of two adjectives, the third line includes 3 verbs, the fourth line is the main idea of your poem and the last line is a synonym of the general word. You may work in groups. All your cinquains will be different. Read aloud your cinquains when you are ready.
