Group 1. Music around us.
P1. Our group is named “Music around us” We want to tell you about classical music. As for me I have found classical music the closest to my soul. Most of the people of my age would think I’m a bit mad to love Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven in place of Eminem or Taty. But I find classical music relaxing. This music has been living for centuries. It is heard in every corner of our land. Some people simply don’t understand classical music, but it has a deep intellectual appeal and it creates a special spiritual world for the listener that enriches his inner life and makes him happy.
Later a lot of composes appeared in different countries in different times: Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Richard Wagner. On each desk there is a text about one or another composer. You have a little time to choose only main information about him.
P2.Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist. He was born in March, 21st in 1685 in Eyzanh. Bach’s parents died when he was young and Johann moved to Ordurf to his elder brother Cristoph. At 17 he played violin and sang in choir. Bach was invited to Weimar to work as a musician at a court. Bach’s creative legacy is enormously. He created works in all known genres at that time, except opera. J.S. Bach became an author of 265 cantatas. Bach died in July in 1750 in Leipzig.
P3.Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was one of the greatest in the world. Schubert said: “His magic music lights the darkness of our lives”. He composed 626 pieces: 24 operas, 49 symphonies, over 40 concertos, 26 string quartets. His most famous operas are “Magic Flute” and “Wedding of Figaro”. Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756 and started his career at a young age. His father taught him how to play the instruments at age of three. Two years later, he gave his son a small violin and Wolfgang toured Europe. In 1791 Mozart died and was buried in a ditch in the cemetery of St. Mark in Vienna.
P4.Beethoven was born in Germany. Beethoven’s first music teacher was his farther, who beat him and unsuccessfully attempted to exhibit him as a child prodigy like Mozart. However, others soon noticed Beethoven’s talent. Beethoven’s mother died when he was 17, and for several years he was responsible for raising his two younger brothers. Beethoven moved to Vienna in 1792, where he intended to study with Joseph Haydn. Beethoven quickly established a reputation as a piano virtuoso, and more slowly, as a composer.
P1. When I listen to the light classical music as to “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky, I enjoy this wonderful music. It helps me feel much better. Of course, it’s difficult to find the way into serious classical music. I think, we must be taught not only to listen but to understand, which is more important. I like to play classical music. This music makes me feel like dreaming. And now I want you to listen to a peace of classical music. ( a piece of music)
Group 2. Music in our life
Р1. People cannot live without music. They listen to music, dance to music or learn to play musical instruments. There is music everywhere at home, in a concert hall, in the park, in the seaside, the forest and even in the street. Music is not only a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art which reflects people’s ideas and emotions. In our world, filled with conflicts, tragedies, joys and hopes, music strives to speak to people of what is most important, urgent and poignant. Music in the lives of different people is different: some compose music, others play music and others only listen to it. People like different kinds of music. You mаy prefer pop or rock music, classical or jazz, but you certainly cannot think of a day without music.
P2. My favourite group is Abba. It was formed in 1973 in Sweden. Abba's cheerful tunes made them international pop stars and one of the most successful groups of the seventies. Their most famous songs ("Waterloo", "Money, Money, Money", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", etc.) often topped European charts. Though the group doesn't exist any more, it is still popular with people of all ages. I can't but admire their style of singing. I find it fascinating and overwhelming. When I have free time I listen to their records.
P3.The King of pop music. NAME: Michael Jackson OCCUPATION: Dancer, Songwriter, Music Producer, Singer BIRTH DATE: August 29, 1958 DEATH DATE: June 25, 2009 PLACE OF BIRTH: Gary, Indiana PLACE OF DEATH: Los Angeles, California Nickname: "King of Pop" AKA: Michael Jackson Full Name: Michael Joseph Jackson
P4.“Tokio Hotel” was founded in 2003. The first album was named “Shrei”, the second “Zimmer 483”. Their last album “Scream” is very popular nowadays. It is the English version of the songs from “Shrei” and “Zimmer 483”. There are four boys in this group. The band is shooting the video for their next single "Spring Nicht" (“Don't Jump”).
P2.In Great Britain there are no a lot of great names of famous classical composers. Mostly they are from Italy, Germany, Russia, Austria, Norway…But in Britain a lot of modern popular composers appeared in 60-s, 70-s, 80-s… “ The Beatles” is the most famous group in England. It was organized in Liverpool in 1956.
P1. It goes without saying that music plays a very important role in people's lives. It reflects our moods and emotions. Music appeals to our hearts and transforms our feelings. It conquers our souls and enriches our minds. Besides, listening to music is the perfect way to spend free time and not to feel bored. You can hardly find a person who doesn't like or need music and who never sings or dances. Music is beauty in sounds; it is our magic source of inspiration. And now let’s listen to rock music. (a piece of music)
Group 3. Music in Kazakhstan.
P1. We are going to tell you about music in Kazakhstan. This music lives on for centuries. Every nation has its own national music and dance ensembles and choirs. The British are very fond of their folk music. They held special Folk Festivals, where the young can learn about their national culture and folk music. We are proud of our folk music.
P2.Traditional Kazakh music includes ensembles using instruments like the kobyz (qobuz) or dombra, as well as kyl-kobyz, sherter, sybyzgy, saszyrnay and shankobyz; the most common instrumental traditions are called kobizovaia, sibiz-govaia, and dombrovaia. Many songs are connected to ancient mythology and folk religious beliefs (kui), while others were composed after the rise of authored works (kuishi) by early songwriters (jiray) like Mahmud Kashgari, Kaztygana, Dospanbeta, Shalkiiza and Aktamberdi. The kuishi tradition is said to have peaked in the 19th century, when composers like Kurmangazy, Madi Baliuly and Birjan and singers like Ahan were active. In the 20th century, the first major star was the singer Mayra Shamsutdinova.
P3.As famous poet Kadir Mirzaliev said “real Kazakh is not Kazakh, real Kazakh is dombra!”. Kazakh people still respect and play this instrument. In any Kazakh home you will find at least one dombra player.
P4.The folk instrument orchestra was named after Kurmangazy, a famous composer and dombra player from the 19th century. Other Kazakh composers include Tattimbet, Sougur, Almaz Serkebayev, Tles Kazhgaliev, Makhambet and Bayserke.
Janiya Aubakirova is an internationally renowned solo pianist. Since 1997 she has been the Rector of Kazakh National Conservatory after Kurmangazy. Under her guidance the conservatory became not only the leading musical university of the country, but the cultural and educational music center of the Republic. Among the results of her work are the International Program ‘Voskhodyaschiye zvezdy’ (‘Rising stars’, since 2001) and various other piano competitions and music festivals. In 1998 she founded the music agency ‘Classica’ which organized concerts in more than 18 countries all over the world and recorded over 30 CDs. P3. I love pop music. The dictionary defines pop music as “modern popular music of a simple kind with a strong beat and not usually of lasting interest, liked especially by younger people”. I think it is not difficult for understanding. It’s unusual and exciting and it’s the way of sharing all our hopes and fears. I like to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers I like.
P1. I know that there are some groups now. The members of these groups sing Kazakh folk songs. They restore old folk songs. I like to listen to these songs because it is interesting to learn about the past. Now I want you to listen to a peace of folk music. (a piece of music)
